Dalai Lama to visit Japan in November(Kyodo) _ The Dalai Lama, the exiled spiritual leader of Tibet, will make a 10-day visit to Japan next month at the invitation of Japanese religious groups, informed sources said Saturday.
The Dalai Lama's planned visit from Nov. 14 to 23 may, however, be affected by the outcome of the recent dispute between the United States and China over his much publicized trip to Washington.
He received the Congressional Gold Medal on Wednesday at a ceremony attended by U.S. President George W. Bush.
China has criticized the U.S. moves, calling them "a violent interference in China's internal affairs" that has gravely undermined relations between the two countries.
If realized, the Dalai Lama's visit to Japan would be the first since November last year, when he visited the country at the invitation of a religious group in Hiroshima Prefecture.
During his stay, he gave lectures and held talks with Yukio Edano, a House of Representatives member from the main opposition Democratic Party of Japan. Edano heads a nonpartisan group of lawmakers who share concerns about the Tibetan issue.

During his upcoming visit, the Dalai Lama is expected to give lectures in Yokohama and other cities.
China has opposed visits to Japan by the Dalai Lama, claiming he is leading a secessionist movement.
The Japanese government has allowed him to enter the country on condition that he does not engage in any political activities.
